Amos Jin is a painter, DJ, model and tattoo artist born in Suzhou, China, currently residing in New York. Jin’s work evokes the terms: Organic, Uncanny, Nostalgia, Digital, Celestial, Humorous, Esoteric. The focal point of their painting usually exists inside an impossible, surreal landscape that extends indefinitely, speaking on infinity, repetitive patterning and the linear yet chaotic rhythm of the universe. The macrocosm the same as everything existing organically on a micro level. Jin often incorporates text unrelated to the subject matter, rather, it intends to provoke a similar feeling as the painting itself.

Jin’s work also explores the translucent color palette inspired by seashells, sea creatures, oil spills, and rust. Jin examines the rainbow hues popping out unexpectedly inside and outside the world, without knowing the beauty of itself, going unnoticed since the beginning of time.

Growing up at the start of digital age, old technology, analog images and anachronistic, ephemeral media is another focus in their paintings. To Jin, the nostalgia evokes a similar feeling as the uncanny outlook of nature. Being borne inside the void, what existed before and will exist forever is a flickering sight that will matter nothing in the fullness of time, but will always have existed: The randomness of existing has a particular law and order. Their work aims to celebrate the existence - as a human, but also as a particle inside vastness of the universe.

They are currently still receiving their BFA from Pratt Institute.
